We offer world-class Judo training that’s accessible to everyone, no matter your background or experience.
Sensei Carl Conran and the Shogun team, have over 40 years to teaching and training individuals of all ages and skill levels from beginner to international level. Shogun Judo welcomes everyone from 6- year-olds through to adults, beginners to advanced students, and even those looking to cross-train from other martial arts. With Judo’s consistent global program, you can trust in the quality and uniformity of the training offered.
The Shogun Programs
Kids & Teens Judo
Our kids and teens Judo classes provide a fun and engaging environment where young students can develop valuable skills and confidence. With a focus on discipline, respect, and teamwork, our experienced instructors guide each student through fundamental techniques and strategies. These classes not only teach Judo but also help build physical fitness, improve concentration, and foster lasting friendships. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to advance their skills, our classes offer a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for all ages and abilities.
Adults Judo
We cater for young adults to veterans, from beginner to competitive level. Offer skill based training to suit your ability and fitness level. We often host open mat and specific individual focussed training for continual development.
Beginner Judo Classes
If you’re looking for a fun, social or competitive sport, we cater for all, kids, teens, inclusive, young adults to adults, families, veterans and members of the ADF.
Competition Classes
Shogun Judo has a long his long and deep history in the sport of Judo. We regularly compete at local, state, and National events. Our club members compete at local, state, national and international completion, with many state and national champions at all levels and age groups. We conduct open mat training sessions and set individual training programmes catering for each competitor in a team environment. Our Programs include strength and conditioning, skills and drills, and judo career development through to international level.
Private Judo Lessons
We offer private judo classes for those who like some extra help in improving their skills. Just make a booking with one of the coaches.
Kata
Judo is a traditional martial art that started at the Kodokan in Japan in 1882. We teach and practice “Kata”, a preformed demonstration and practice of core judo techniques and skills., from self defence, throws, hold downs, strangles, chokes and arm bars. Shogun Judo practice many forms of Kata, including “Nage No Kata” and “Katame No Kata”. You can now compete in Kata from state to international level competition.
Refereeing
Shogun Judo has qualified Judo referees from local to National level. We provide pathways to help judoka become a qualified referee, form local right through to international level.
Judo Grading
Shogun Judo conducts regular in-house gradings based on Judo Australia Grading policy and requirements. From white belt through to black belt. Our judo teachings and grading programs include discipline, educate, technical skill based training, fun and fitness. We also teach theory and coach in Japanese.

Judo is a Japanese martial art that emphasises throws, pins, and submissions, founded by Jigoro Kano in 1882. It has grown into a global sport and Olympic discipline. At Shogun Judo Club, we’re proud to have worked with athletes who have competed at State, National through international and world level.
Our Shogun Judo Coaching Team, have competed across Australia and overseas, hold first aid, blue card and JA and AIS Coaching certifications, ensuring a safe and high-quality training environment. Classes start from $10 for kids and $15 per lesson for adults. Please book ahead before attending or come down and visit for a free trail session. We can lend you a Gi. You’re very welcome to contact us before visiting the dojo!

Do you offer term fees?
Yes, we offer casual or school term fees, 11 weeks for the price of 10, based on once or twice a week.
Can you supply a judo Gi to wear and how much do they cost?
Yes once we know your size, we have a constant supplied and can order one in, prices start around $50
Do you cater for students with special needs and are inclusive?
Yes, we like to help improve confidence, fitness, skills, and social.
Do you hold interclub training sessions?
Yes, everyone welcome, and we often visit other local clubs.
